Let’s film together! – Film summer camp for queer people from NRW
At the end of august we are offering a summer camp for queer teenagers from Northrhine-Westfalia. The camp will be held in English and is adressed to people with and without refugee background. Therefore we stay together in a house in Essen for 4 days. During the camp you will not only have the chance to make new friends, but moreover to create your own film.

What is the program of the camp?
Our aim is to create a film that will be shown on the YouTube channel queerblick. Our steps to get there are:
Day 1: Getting to know each other and the basics of short film
Day 2: Find a common idea and plot and write the script
Day 3: Shoot the film
Day 4: Continue the shooting and start editing
In the evening we will have time to chill together, to discover the area around our accomodation and have fun as a group.
Do we have to follow a specific topic for our film?
No, the topic is up to the people who create the film together. The film should give you the chance to express things that are important to you.
Why is the camp in English?
We want to give people the chance to participate that are not comfortable with German yet. So we use English as a working language.
Who can participate?
Queer and queerfriendly people of all genders between 16 and 25 that currently live in Northrhine-Westfalia.
Where does the camp take place?
We have a house close to the train station „Essen – Zollverein Nord“. The place is close to different sights in Essen and around. The house is equipped with kitchens so we will cook together.
What does it cost?
Food, accomodation and the workshop are for free. You only have to take care of your own train ticket to come to Essen. If you cannot afford the ticket price yourself, please tell us and we will help you. We want to make the camp accessible to everyone regardless of income.
Do I need experience in film making in order to participate?
No, that is not necessary! The camp is adressed to people with and without experiences in this field. We would like to achieve a mixed group when it comes to knowledge of film making so you can benefit from different skills.
Can I watch films that you produced in the past?
Sure! This film called CRUISING was created in a short film camp in 2016 and reached half a million views until now. More films can be found on our YouTube channel queerblick.
